NARS Larger than Life Eyeliner

I'm predicting this fall to be the season of eyeliner. As a huge fan I couldn't be more excited. While I'm a big believer in the power of your typical black liner I also love me some brights. My collection is full of vibrant blues, greens and purples and the occasional gold or silver. I love the way they makes my eyes look and the way they instantly sex up any outfit. So far I've been super impressed with Urban Decay's 24/7 liners but I'm ready to branch out a little bit with the new NARS Larger than Life pencils. They're a little pricey at $23 but their long wear and incredible color payoff make it a worthy splurge.

With my green eyes I love to wear purples like Bourbon Street and coppers like the gorgeous Via Appia (a slightly copperish brown). Both colors really help my eyes stand out. According to color theory the opposite shades on the color wheel from your eye color should really make them pop. All eye colors look great in purple, I love the way blues like Abbey Road look on dark brown eyes and gold makes blue eyes sexy.

While it may not follow color theory I also happen to think eyes look great in a shade similar to their own color. For my green eyes I love wearing bright jade or fun forest like Rue De Rivoli. Blues will look lovely in Rue Saint-Honoree (a dark sapphire) or (blueish gray) Madison Avenue and brown eyes will sparkle with Via Appia. When wearing green liner I can't help but admire the way they make my eyes look even greener, ditto for wearing a bluer shade since I'm lucky enough to have green-blue eyes that change colors depending on my mood or makeup choices.

While we could all use a little more beauty sleep NARS seems to have us covered on that one as well. When you line your eyes with matte white Santa Monica BLVD (for all skintones) or Rue Bonaparte (a nude for light complexions) you instantly look more awake and alert. Lately the rims of my eyes have been redder for no particular reason and I look like I have allergies when, for the most part, I do not. I'm lusting after the pretty shimmer in Rue Bonaparte to make me look wide eyed and bushy tailed (although my peppy ponytail does that for me).

If you're the look before you buy you have to check out the swatches from Karla Sugar seen here. This girl could make me want to buy anything with her beautiful swatching.

While you're here don't forget to sign up for my giveway, a year's subscription to Cosmo. PS-How do you like the new look?

NARS Summer '11

What a beautiful way to kick off the weekend! I'm really trying to enjoy the spring and not rush into summer but it's hard. Even harder now that I've seen sneak peeks of NARS' upcoming collection. I'm not usually such a NARS-head but I can't stop thinking about Cap Ferrat eyeshadow trio, I swear, it's going to make appearances in my dreams. I can't get over the gorgeousness, take a look.

The rest of the collection looks pretty amazing as well. See...

Clockwise from top left...
Dogon Duo Eyeshadow- Shimmery taupe and charcoal/black. The classic smoky eye look come to life in one place or a highlight and liner combo for the faint of heart.
Wonder Lip Gloss- Sheer orange gloss with a hit of gold shimmer, the perfect combo for a fun in the sun look.
Kismet and Écume Nail Polishes- Kismet is a shimmering golden yellow perfect for those with warm, golden undertones and Écume is a opaque white, white-out style only chicer.
Queen Soft Touch Shadow Pencil- Golden green shadow pencil for single swipe color and lining capabilities in one.
Bolero Velvet Matte Lip Pencil- Melon-y peach matte lip pencil perfect for wearing alone or layering under gloss.
The aforementioned eye shadow trio I'm currently lusting over.
Carthage Pure Matte Lipstick- The perfect slick of matte hot pink for the sweltering nights out. I might be too timid for this one.
Exotic Dance Duo Eyeshadow- Metallic silvery white paired with metallic gold, both universally flattering shades, perfect to wear to the beach on those hot summer days.
Not to wild for me is Mayflower Lipstick, a sheer raspberry-esque shade that evokes images of pilgrims based on the name but probably couldn't be further from the truth.
Last but not least, New Order Highlighting Blush, is described as a soft pink blush with gold and silver shimmer although it certainly appears lavender in the picture.

Do you think I can survive the wait? What about you? What are you going to pick up from this gorgeous collection?

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil

NARS, NARS, NARS- I wanna love you, I really do but so far we don't have the best relationship. The lipgloss does nothing for me, the scent, the opacity, the stickiness, I just can't do them. There are much cheaper products out there that work better for my particular needs. The eyeshadows are gorgeous but I haven't had the best luck with those either. Now, you just might have me with these glossy lip pencils. Now, I haven't tried them but I love me a lipgloss pencil. They are so easy and convenient to carry around especially in the summer.

I have heard great things around the blogosphere and I can't wait to get my hands on them to try them out. For a light lippie lover like me you can't go wrong with Happy Days and New Lover. But with the way NARS and I get along I'll have to wait until I can check them out at Sephora. I can't bring myself to make a blind purchase of $24, not with the gas prices right now. If anyone has tried these, I beg of you, please let me know how you like them. I need to know!
