Fyrinnae Velvet-Gel Silca Primer Dry Skin

Primer and I are in the midst of a love affair. I only wear it for special occasions or days that I want my makeup to last all day but I still need it in my life. As a girl with dry skin I know it can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Luckily Fyrinnae's Velvet-Gel Silca Primer for Dry Skin is my new BFF. I wore it all this weekend and I have to say we're getting along great. No adverse reactions to speak of and I'll definitely let you know if that changes.

Right now I'm heading out to a concert and it seems those days are the ones that I most like wearing vibrant makeup. Primer's help to keep everything in place when the weather is warm but also keep the colors true to life and bright. This one's meant for the skin but I smoothed it over my eyelids as well and it's doing a wonderful job keeping the bright blue of MAC Freshwater bright and vibrant, the only way I'll wear blue on my lids.

If you've ever tried matte primers you'll know that they sometimes have a tendency to eat all the shimmer you apply to your face. As a chica with dry skin I like to apply shimmery blush or beauty powder all over my face to distract from any dry patches and this primer lets me do that without making me cake on the product to get any shimmer to show up. I know with one's I've tried in the past I had to give in and wear my face matte, which I honestly hate to do.

Just in case you're wondering it does appear to be different from the non-dry skin formula and I felt a slight cooling hydration upon application. I woke up the next day with slightly less dryness but it didn't stick around through my second day of product testing. I think the way it helps foundation skim over dryness, fine lines and imperfections makes it perfect for those days when I have to exfoliate but don't have time. I don't know if I can say that about some other primers that just seem to leave me feeling well, drier.

I haven't had ANY experience with other Fyrinnae products but I know so many other bloggers who love the line that I have to do more digging. They're vegan (always a plus), sell samples and make some really unique shades of shadow. Gotta do more digging into this wonderful brand. It's too bad I can't seem to find this product on their rather touchy website (the last few times I tried to go there to finish this post it wasn't there!) Beauty Funeral: Victoria's Secret Indulgent Bath Bubbles and Stimulating Body Scrub

Year round I'm a bath taker although I admit that in the summer I hit the tub a bit less often. You know what would make me want to soak more often? If they brought back my favorite Victoria's Secret bubble bath! Sure they have the great 3 n 1 Beauty Rush line but it's not the same. I want the body spray scents to soak in, especially since those scents are some of my favorites in the world. These bubble baths were completely full of bubble making goodness, they were by far the best I have ever used and I miss them.

You know what else? While we're at it can we please, please, please, bring back the stimulating body scrubs? These were the only ones that I've used that were thick enough to feel incredible without feeling wimpy and thin. They really were stimulating and they felt like a great back scratch. I loved to use them on my back, of course, or before shaving my legs for an extra close shave. The best part about these was that they not only smelled fabulous but they left a lingering scent on the skin without a greasy residue that you can get with it. Oh, the more I write about these the more I miss them.


Can you recommend another brand that works just as well? Of course I love my Philosophy 3 n 1s but I'm looking for a nice thick body scrub that can make me feel like the pampered princess I should be!

Maybelline Pure Makeup

Do you ever have a product shoved so far to the back of your makeup drawer (do we all have drawers or is that just me?!?) that you forget all about it, even though you were IN LOVE with it when you first used it? That's how I found my new-old favorite foundation, Maybelline Pure Makeup. It's been hanging around for a while but despite the rules that tell me to toss it after x amount of time (that would be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on who you ask) I've held onto it.

Maybelline Pure Makeup has unfortunately been discontinued but what's a beauty blog without a little nostalgia? Did you use Pure Makeup back in the day? I couldn't live without it a few years back and now that my skin has decided to be dry instead of combo I find that this foundation still works for all my issues. It's made up of 50% water so a good shake was always needed to mix things up a bit and it dries down to a nice soft matte finish, perfect for those summer days I swear are coming soon. As a promise to myself I've decided to use up all of my usable products before I buy more, a promise my mother has also made and I'm sure every woman out there has made at some point. All the mascaras, foundations and powders will be used or tossed, no exceptions. In my opinion you can never have too many lipgloss, blush or eye products but I do have to pass on the ones that I don't use or want. Bring on the spring cleaning, I'd prefer going through my beauty drawers to the real chores we'll all be getting around to once the snow is finally gone.

Healthy Sexy Hair Pumpkin

You know the thing I hate most in the beauty world? Falling in love with a product (and passing this love on to my friends and family) only to have it discontinued right out from underneath me. It's a sad day when that happens and the biggest beauty funeral in the recent past has to be for Sexy Hair Concepts Healthy Sexy Hair Pumpkin line (long name, amazing scent)!

I fell in love with this line when my roommate brought it home years ago, back when it was still available in salons, and now, I can't live without it. It's a good thing I stocked up! Gallons upon gallons later I'm still enjoying the scent come fall. Also, full disclosure here, I actually buy my supply at TJ Maxx or Marshall's and I swear every time I'm in there I come across another great product from the line. Just the other night I picked up a leave in conditioner spray and a styling cream.

In my shower I have the body wash, bar soap for the man, re-hydrating shampoo, detoxifying shampoo and the conditioner. On my counter the leave in conditioner cream, my new styling spray (both great for de-tangling) and I can't wait to try the styling creme I socked away as a Christmas gift. Wow! That's a lot of pumpkin. Can you tell I love it? I'm the girl who can't wait for fall to roll around so I can get my pumpkin coffee from Dunkin' Donuts and so I can whip out these products.

If you happen to live near a TJ Maxx or Marshalls, I highly suggest you keep an eye out for anything from this amazing line and stock up if you do find it. You will not find another scent like this out there and, trust me on this one, supplies are dwindling online as we speak. If you don't have access to it in stores, take my word for it, these really smell like pumpkin pie and if you love the scent you can't go wrong. Let me know what you think.
