Dudesday Tuesday: American Music Awards

I've been asked to do my own take on the good, bad and ugly of the AMA's. Unfortunately I don't have TV so I won't see the awards unless I download them but judging from what I've read, I won't bother. So I looked at all the pictures Mrs. D.O.C. scrounged up and sadly I was not very impressed. I get it, the AMA's are not the Grammy's but what's with all the horrible outfits?

So we'll start with the ugly, the outfits so bad they couldn't be saved by a simple color swap or better hairdo. I would say Nicki Minaj but that'd just be too easy, she always looks awful. I will say that she has a pretty smile though. So I'm going to give the ugly rating to Jennifer Morrison. Now she actually looks pretty here, love her hair and makeup but that dress is just no. No, what was she thinking? The sleeves are god awful. The bead work looks like it belongs on a fancy napkin. And the shape of it looks almost like she's wearing a table cloth. I can't see any way to salvage this outfit which is a shame because she looks very pretty other than that.

The bad goes to Selena Gomez. Her dress isn't awful, I think I get where they were going with it, but it just doesn't work for me. The dress looks too big for her. I get that she's young but that slit on the leg should be a lot higher, not so we can see more skin but because it throws the whole outfit off. It seems like it was designed for a full figured woman to wear but was given to Selena instead. A few minor variations could have easily put her into the best dressed category at least in my eyes. I'm not a big fan of the hair but her makeup is gorgeous and she carried herself very well without looking the least bit slutty.

And the best dressed of the evening has to go to Vanessa Minillo. The dress is just hot, what can I say. I personally prefer her hair a little lighter but despite the color, it's beautiful, her makeup is excellent, good body, not a fan of the shoes but oh well, they work with the dress. I love the one strap thingy that goes around her neck, very elegant. She won by a landslide but there were a few I have to give honorable mentions to, Audrina Patridge and I never thought I'd say it but Taylor Swift.

I rarely find her attractive but her straight hair looks really good and although I don't particularly like the dress, it looks great on her. And those were the only three I saw that I thought actually deserved to be in the good category. The rest of the ladies really needed to step their game up but this is just the beginning to the awards season.

Dudesday Tuesday: "I'm just worried I'm going to lose you"

Today we're going to talk a little about jealous boyfriends. It's come to my attention that I don't think I can name a young woman who doesn't have one. Whether they're in their teens or closing in on 30. It seems like men have no confidence in their relationship so they tell their girlfriend that she's not allowed to talk to other men, in some cases not even look at them. Some of the guys get angry and violent about it while some get moody and distant. It seems like every time a girl sits her man down and asks why he does this, they all give a slight variation on the same answer, 'I'm just worried I'm going to lose you'. Is this an honest answer? I strongly believe it is, in fact I would bet anything it is. But that brings up the real question; why is he so worried about that?

Men and women alike, when we do something wrong, we know it's wrong, therefor have a guilty conscience. Yes it does work both ways because women cheat too, some studies claim they cheat more than men, but for some reason these couples choose to stay together. Men, whether in a relationship or not, will generally go as far as their female pursuer will. Whether it stops at flirting, touching, kissing, fooling around or even going all the way even though they know it will hurt their girl if she finds out. If that girl is a keeper, he's going to do everything he can to keep her, well, except for the right thing. He'll lie about what he did and do everything in his power to cover his tracks, usually quite sloppily, but instead of changing his ways, he'll assume that his girl is doing the same thing. The birth of a jealous boyfriend. If he's doing something wrong, whether it be a little innocent flirting or having sex on a regular basis, he's going to assume you are too.

There's another big reason for him being afraid he's going to lose you, at the risk of sounding a bit harsh, he's a waste of space and he knows it. I'm sorry but a lot of guys are, hell, women too, the difference is that women are more open and will more likely discuss their insecurities whereas a man is quick to laugh it off and claim he could bag any chick in the world because he's so awesome. In his head, he doesn't have any clue how he managed to get you. A few signs he feels this way; he's mean to everyone, mean to you, doesn't want to talk about anything but the superficial, makes fun of everything and everybody, gets wrapped up in a 'manly' fantasy world whether it be graphic novels or video games, always seems angry or displeased, is quick to react in a hostile way, and of course, telling you he's worried about losing you.

So is he actually worried about it? You bet he is. Does he have reason to be? You tell me. Because if he's an unfaithful, bitter, waste of space that no one seems to like except you, maybe you've set your sights too low. Maybe if he gets worried enough about losing you, he might just change his ways. If not, please please please be careful, I've known these guys my entire life and nine times out of ten it does not end well. Don't settle for less than what you know you deserve.

Dudesday Tuesday: Does He Only Want Sex?

Men will do whatever it takes to get sex, especially if it's a girl they really want. Some of them lie, back stab friends, even change who they are just get the girl they want, even if it's for only one night. So, do men just want sex?

No. Sex is the easy way to cover up what they really want, the one. Most men are searching for love, not just love but for the woman they can love for the rest of their lives. A lot of guys do want sex, but when they're willing to go all out for it, it usually means what they want is actually a lot more than sex. When a man finds the girl he wants to be with forever, yes, he will lie, back stab friends, even change who he is just to get her. There's a fine line between sex and love, probably why we call the act of sex, making love. So with their being no difference between a man trying to be with you for a night versus being with you for life, is their a way to distinguish between the two?

Not easily. Guys think girls aew confusing and girls think guys are confusing, this is partially why. Sometimes a man goes into it thinking he wants sex but ends up wanting more and I've seen guys go into it thinking they wanted to be with a girl forever only to decide they just want sex. Men are good actors, our weakness being we're not great. If he really loves you, even if he's acting like all he wants is sex, he won't be able to hide one thing, the fact that he cares for you. He'll listen to you and understand, no matter what you're saying, he'll be there for you when you need him and even when you don't, he'll enjoy your company at all times, he won't say cruel things because he won't think them, simply put he'll love you.

Men don't want just sex, not all the time. Even when you think that's all he wants, he may actually want more. Guys aren't so good with the sensitive stuff and sometimes they try to hide behind something else. Of course sometimes they are just trying to get in your pants but you'll know because he won't really care about you and it'll show, you just have to know to look for it. If he cares and he shows it, he wants so much more than sex you may not even know the extent of it. No matter what he wants, make sure he's worth it before you give it to him.

Dudesday Tuesday: Are Men Hiding Their True Selves?

So today marks the day that Darren Hayes (the former front man of Savage Garden) drops his new album. It's promoted worldwide, Australia, Europe, Japan, but here in America most people are like 'who?'. The sad thing about us as a country is that we don't tend to care for deep music, if it's not some meaningless words we can shake our asses to at a club, we don't want it. Darren Hayes is too soft for us, he's not flaunting his money, he's not hitting women, he's not bragging about being how bad he is. So we don't like him. Men especially, we hate him. Why? Because he's everything we aren't; sensitive, deep, caring, comfortable in his own skin, cool yet a dork at the same time and not afraid to admit it, spiritual, a guy most women would kill for. So let me get to the point here, are we actually more like him than we'd like to admit? Are men secretly all of those things but just don't show it? I would like to say yes, but sadly, I'd be lying.

Let me stop classifying myself as part of this 'we' because I am not part of that group and never have been. Being a man, I see men when they are actually themselves and to be honest, for the most part it is very disappointing. I've always looked for that something special in a person, sometimes it's just not there. A few things I've learned;

If he's quiet, shy, a mysterious loner, it doesn't automatically make him a nice guy. In fact, most of them are dicks, they're just shy so you don't see it. Yes, some of them are worth getting to know and you might be surprised, but please don't get your hopes up.

If he has a girlfriend, he must be a good catch. No. Men know when they have a girl they need to hold on to and some of them know what to say to keep her. Be careful of these ones, because you'll believe what they want you to believe.

If he's a musician, he's deep. Sometimes, but sometimes he's doing it because you'll think he's deep. I've known guys who pick up a guitar and write sweet things just to get girls. Then he laughs to his buddies about how that corny stuff he wrote actually worked.

If he sincerely says he wants to change, it means he's going to do it. That, or he just knows enough to say what you want to hear. At the moment, yes, he may want to change, but there's a big difference between wanting to do something and actually having the willpower to do it.

Does this mean all men are a waste of your time? No, it just means you have to know what you're looking for and not be blinded by the image of what you want, it may just be a mirage. Don't be fooled into thinking there is more beneath the surface because honestly, a lot of the time, there really isn't. Yes it's sad and rather depressing, so when you find one of those gems, hold on to him. They are out there.

Dudesday Tuesday: The Coffee Date

Okay, so I see it on TV and movies all the time, read about it in books, but do people really go on coffee dates? And if a guy asks you to get coffee with him, does it mean he's interested? You bet it does. But...

He doesn't know how interested he is yet. And, I don't think I've ever heard of it actually happening outside of fiction. Basically, if a guy asks you to go anywhere with him it means he's interested in you. Some of us are too simple minded to think about where to ask you to go with us so the stereotypical date is in order, dinner and movie. If it's just a movie it means he's more interested in sex. If it's something that involves talking, such as a meal or coffee, it means he actually wants to get to know you. It's more of a feeling out, the same for women I'm sure. If that initial getting to know a person process doesn't feel right, there won't be a second date so nothing was wasted. Coffee isn't exactly expensive, even if you go to Starbucks. It's what happens afterward that counts because if it went well, coffee will probably be the pre-date with the real one to follow probably immediately, or at least definitive plans for one.

Come to think of it I've never even seen anyone on a coffee date either, but maybe that's because I live in Maine and a good portion of the population here aren't sophisticated enough. Either way, that first meeting where it's just the two of you is his way of figuring out what he wants out of you; friend, sex or forever. I'm sure you're thinking pretty much the same thing. It's a good time to see how he treats you, how he treats others, and how he treats you in front of others. When a guy's alone with you, he may be surprisingly different than when other people are around. This is also the perfect time for you to truly be yourself, let your guard down just a little and don't feed him any false information, it'll avoid wasting either of your time later. Something intimate like a one on one conversation generally means he legitimately wants to get to know the real you.

Please let me know if you've ever been on a coffee date and how it turned out but I really would like to know.

Dudesday Tuesday: Why Guys Love Dumb Girls

It's something I'm sure you've noticed. It's probably pissed you off before, confused you, maybe even cost you a guy or a job you desperately wanted. So why do men seem to love dumb girls? Let me do my best to break it down for you.

For starters, men don't actually love the dumb ones, well, most of us don't. Generally speaking men want to screw the dumb ones, marry the smart ones. Dumb girls are easy or at least they appear to be at first glance. A smart woman won't typically sleep with a guy right away, they're too smart for that, too guarded to be defenseless enough to let some random man take them home and do with them as he pleases. The dumb one either doesn't have the brains to resist or the self confidence to realize she doesn't have to do that. Men want what's easy, for the night, but they want something more for life. The smart girl is going to be more difficult but worth it in the end so if he's not looking for something long term, odds are he's going after the chick with the lowest IQ.

Another big part of men liking dumb girls is the fact that it makes them feel better about themselves. Let's face it, most women are smarter, more practical, understanding and better multi-taskers than men. It can be quite intimidating. Well, the dumb ones are an exception. A lot of guys like to feel superior to women in some way. The dumb girls won't be smarter than the guy so he automatically has something over her and it's easy for him to make fun of her in order to make him feel better about himself. It's depressing but yes it happens all the time, even if it's behind her back or sometimes even inside of his own private thoughts but yes, he is thinking it. The dumb one will laugh at his jokes, even when they're not funny, mostly because she doesn't understand but laughs anyway. It's a great way to stroke his ego.

Basically, if he wants a stupid girl it's because he needs to feel better about himself. Sometimes it's for a night, sometimes for life due to some kind of mommy issue he should probably be on a couch across from a therapist for. If you're trying to get a man to take home for the night, play dumb. If you want him to marry you and start a family, smart is the way to go. Of course some of us find the incredibly stupid girls to be not only irritating but extremely sad as well, no matter the size of their hearts because some of them are sweet and otherwise very likable. So please remember, smart is always the way to go and if you find yourself playing dumb for the night, don't lose yourself in the charade. If he wants a dumb one, forget him, he's probably got more issues than you want to deal with anyway.

Dudesday Tuesday: J. Cole

I can't remember the last time I bought a CD the day it came out, or even bought a CD period for that matter. But last Tuesday, soon as I got out of work I went out to pick up J Cole's Cole World album, and when the first place was sold out, I moved on to the next one until I got it. So I figured I had to write about it and seeing that he sold out, I'm clearly not alone, and it's not often that I like an artist that everyone else likes, especially when it comes to rap.

The main problem with rap today is that they're not very good at it, in fact most of them completely suck. What J Cole brings to the table is lyrical genius, something very rare in any form of music. Even on a lackluster beat, I'm forced to listen just to hear what he has to say, and several listens later I'll finally pick up on a metaphor or cleverly hidden euphemism I didn't catch before. Every line seems to have some sort of underlying meaning to it that could easily be dissected and and analyzed in an English classroom like the great poets we still study today. The only real difference being the subject matter.

J Cole is a rapper, so he talks about regular rapper things, but manages to throw in bits of knowledge mixed in with his own beliefs and topics rarely touched on in song form. In "Lost Ones" he argues with his girlfriend about getting an abortion, raising valid points for both sides, something most people are too scared to delve into in fear of alienating part of their audience. It's refreshing to hear someone speak his mind so freely and with such profound articulation. You can tell this guy is a college graduate and it separates him from the competition.

Another refreshing aspect of this album is the fact that when reading the credits, you see that the instruments are actually played by living breathing humans rather then being synthesized on some expensive keyboard. How many albums actually have to credit the saxophone and trumpet players? Throw in the fact that Cole produced most of the album himself and it makes him even more impressive. There are actually piano solos on here that are downright beautiful, instrumental segments of songs that are still captivating. A few of the beats fall short, especially in the middle of the album but his lyrics are always enough to keep me listening. With only two guest rappers dropping verses, it gives Cole the time he needs to shine which is a good thing because his guests were seriously outshined. Drake and Jay Z both sounded rather uninspired on their verses, despite being two of the biggest names in the game today.

Some not accustomed to the world of Hip Hop may not pick up on it but one thing I love about Cole's work is the fact that he does not dub over his vocals, which is basically when you record a second set of vocals on another track so it sounds like your vocals are doubled. It's common practice in every form of music, practically unavoidable yet Cole doesn't use it on this album. The effect it gives is that he's rapping it directly to you rather than showing you a recording he made, it sounds almost live and on top of that, it sounds like he freestyled it off the top of his head. It adds to the realness he's bringing back to Hip Hop. How many other artists are talking about repaying their Sallie Mae loans? Yet how many of us out here listening are actually doing it? It's amazing to listen to something relatable, especially in the often fictionalized world of rap music.

Although the album is not a classic, I highly recommend buying this one, you won't be disappointed. I haven't bought a rap album in over two years so you can take my word for it, J Cole is incredible. For the sake of Hip Hop, please give him a listen and maybe we can save this phenomenal artform that way too many rappers are destroying.

(my top 3 standout tracks; Dollar And A Dream III, Rise And Shine, God's Gift)

Dudesday Tuesday: Gillette After Shave

Alright, we've discussed it before, I'm kind of a metro-sexual, albeit not a very good one. I try to keep my body hair free, particularly my stomach, chest and armpits. Shaving in the shower works fine and doesn't require anything special, however, in the summer months especially it can cause razor burn. Something about sweating after shaving just doesn't work very well with my sensitive skin.So I use the only thing that helps, Gillette's After Shave for Sensitive Skin.

The cupboard in my bathroom has two different kinds in it, one is the lotion and the other is a gel. Both work but I do prefer the gel slightly more. They smell almost the same although the gel smells a little more, well, gel-y, it has a little more of a fresh water scent to it. My face was a littler dry yesterday so I actually wore some on my face for a change, what I really love about the gel is that even hours later when I scratched my face, the smell came back. Hey, that makes my cheek kind of like a scratch n sniff sticker. It's not an overpowering scent, just a light touch of cologne. There is a version that claims to be unscented but it does still have a slight cologne smell to it.

Both after shaves work the same. I don't use them on my face very often but when my skin is overly dry I dab a little on and don't have any problems for the rest of the day. Since I don't use a blade on my face and don't shave closely anyway I don't ever need it for razor burn on my face but considering it works so well on my chest I'd assume it'd work on my face as well. And granted I haven't used very many after shaves in my day but I'm a kid of the 90's, when Macaulay Culkin slapped some on his face in Home Alone it appeared to burn like hell, mine doesn't burn. I guess that's a good thing, though I've always wanted to experience it.

So if your man gets dry flaky skin after shaving, this is the perfect product for him. And if he shaves his body, I highly recommend using this afterward. During the warm months I even use it on my armpits and barely get even the slightest burning sensation. The cologne type scent is just an added bonus.

Dudesday Tuesday: Tattoos On Women

Tattoos. It seems like everyone has them, men and women, hell even kids are getting them as soon as they possibly can. People who can barely afford to pay their bills are more than willing to shell out over a hundred dollars for one. I can’t count the number if girls I see walking around with a pair of ass antlers more commonly referred to as tramp stamps. The question is, do men like women getting inked?

Sorry, but there’s no clear cut answer here. Some men like it, some don’t. Some like big intricate in your face tattoos and some like cute little hidden ones that aren’t visible to the world. If anything, I have noticed they are excellent conversation starters. There are a few general stereotypes that go along with tattoos on women though and the one you should know about is; the more tattoos, the easier she is. Of course this is not an accurate way to judge the sluttiness of a girl but it’s a stereotype for a reason.

Here’s a few things to keep in mind before you get a tattoo. Most importantly is to make sure you actually want it, don’t get it for any reason other than wanting it for yourself. Make sure your tattoo can be covered up because sometimes they just aren’t appropriate. And maybe this is just a personal pet peeve of mine but please do not get a cross if you are not religious, get one that means something to you on a personal level. And last but certainly not least, if you’re going to get ink put on your body for the rest of your life, make sure it looks good.

Keep in mind, men love the female body. Always have and always will. They were painting nude pictures of women before we had cameras to take pictures of them. A lot of men don’t want to see markings all over those beautiful bodies, quite honestly, from a distance they usually look like moles or some kind of dis-figuration. I find that men tend to respect women more who do not have tattoos, or at least no visible ones. Make sure it’s meaningful, artistic and worth altering your beautiful body for.

Dudesday Tuesday: Less Is More

You're going out for the night. So you put on tons of makeup, dress up in an outfit you don't normally wear, do your hair in a way that breaks the mold you fall into during the week, wear some extravagant accessories and go out with the intent to own the night. But who are you doing all this for? Is it for your own satisfaction, or to get the attention of men on the prowl? Well, I've got some good news and some bad news. All this 'peacocking' will get mens attention but not necessarily in the way you want.

As usual, men are equally as confusing as they are confused so let me try to give you a hand here. What do men like more, women who dress provocatively or classy girls that leave something to be seen? To sum it up quickly, yes, men like women who dress provocatively, but, those are the girls they want to take home for the night, the girls with class are the ones they want to take home for life. So it's really up to you, what are you looking for?

Here we have Rihanna all dressed up and ready for a night out, and although very pretty, it's not what guys are typically looking for. We'll start with her hair. When guys see this, they're automatically thinking she's trying too hard to impress someone and it's a waste of time. Her hair would be gorgeous without those two curls at the top. Spending so much time on one single part of your appearance just isn't necessary.

Her makeup looks too overdone. The bright lips and eyeshadow make her stand out but like we've discussed before, guys don't particularly like red lips. Now I'm no expert with makeup but from a dude's perspective she also appears to be wearing a lot of foundation and concealer which gives her a dollish type look, like she belongs in a plastic box. Guys hate that, it looks caked on, like you're trying to cover something.

The outfit is a bit strange. The long sleeves are kinda weird considering how much leg she's showing and the fact that it's a belly shirt. The gold chain will get mens attention but odds are it won't be in a good way. The bottoms look too tight and fail at being sexy and the fishnets just look out of place. Nothing about this outfit seems to coordinate even though I'm sure quite a bit of time was spent on it.

What the average guy is going to get out of this attire is that she's desperate for attention yet shy and although she may act like she's going to give you the night of your life, she's more likely to cry and want to be held because no one understands her. This next picture says something very similar but is so much more appealing that there is no competition. If she wants attention, we'll do whatever she asks of us, if she's shy it's okay because she can let her guard down and we'll comfort her, and although she may not look like she'll give us the night of our lives, we know there is sensuality inside just dying to come out and if she cries, we'll hold her and spend the rest of our lives trying to understand why.

How can a simple look say all that? Here we go.

Her hair looks simple yet intricate, touchable, real, as opposed to the other picture that makes her look more like a Barbie doll. Her makeup, although there, looks more natural. Her lips look like something you could watch for hours while listening to her speak before kissing. Without so much makeup in general, it seems like we're really seeing her. The shirt is accidentally sexy because it looks comfortable and classy yet manages to show a little bit of her chest, just enough to leave us wanting more but not so much that we won't be able to focus on anything other than her boobs. The jean shorts are extremely short but when paired with the shirt, don't look slutty at all. It's things like this that tell a guy she's not a prude or anything but you probably won't be getting in those jeans the first night. But it doesn't matter, because the picture of this girl doesn't make us envision a one night stand. This is the girl we'll chase after forever because we want what is underneath.

If you dress sexy, men are going to think sex. Sex is great for the moment, but next week he'll move on to a different moment. Simple, classy, a little bit of sex appeal and some mystery will always keep him coming back for more.

Dudesday Friday: The Anniversary Edition

Five years ago today I became the luckiest man in the world. I married my best friend, the girl I'd do anything for, the one that to this day makes my heart jump every time she smiles. How many guys can say that they actually love spending time with their wives? I'd do everything with her if I could. After all these years, we can still spend a six hour car ride doing nothing but talking and not realize we didn't have any music playing. It amazes me that we can be doing something exciting or absolutely nothing at all and I enjoy her company equally. How is that she's always the one to say the funniest, sweetest and cutest things I've heard all day? It never fails, even on those nights she falls asleep early and didn't say the funniest, sweetest or cutest thing, she'll roll over, wake up for a minute and say it while half asleep. I don't even think she means to. I try to make her half as happy as she makes me but it's a difficult task, perhaps impossible. How many guys can say their wives let them hang action figures up in the bathroom when the walls in his man-room are covered? And then offer the hallway when the bathroom wall got filled? I wouldn't let my collections come as far as the living room but if I asked nicely, I'm sure she'd let me. And even when I've run out of room, she'll still talk me into buying more just because it makes me happy. She never makes me feel bad for being 27 years old and still getting excited about a new toy. But it's more complicated than that because if I were a geek it would be one thing but that's only one side of me. She fuels both the nerdy side and the cool side and never favors one over the other. When I wanted to put down my microphone and stop rapping, she wouldn't let me. It wasn't because she had some dream of being married to a rapper that might blow up one day, she just knows it's a huge part of who I am and didn't want to see me lose touch with myself. And even when she wouldn't let me quit, she supported me when I decided I wanted to become a writer. She does more than support me, she's my biggest fan, always inspiring me to do more and be greater. She's never tried to change me, only keep me the same. I'm so grateful to have found a girl that actually wanted me for me and not what she could turn me into. I have the best wife ever.

So why am I writing this on here? Because I believe that most women could learn a thing or two about how to treat their man. I know a lot of men suck and don't bother trying not to, but if you are lucky enough to have one that doesn't suck, hold on to him. Thank him sincerely when he does something for you, it'll make him want to do it again. Support him, not because it's your duty but because you honestly believe in him. Little things, like buying him something he likes at the grocery store, those are the things that let him know you really care. Tease him because it will make him laugh, but always let him know you love him for who he is. Spending time with him doesn't mean you have to be doing something special, if he loves you, your company is enough. Stand up for him when he's down, comfort him when he needs it, love him for who he is, care for him like no one ever has, support him when he doesn't have a friend in the world, accompany him when he's alone, and if it comes to it, walk through the depths of hell just to let him know that you'll always be by his side.

And he'll do the same.

Or maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic and the one guy in the world who's like that found the one girl in the world who's like that and married her five years ago today. Here's to a lifetime more of todays. I love you Jaime.

Dudesday Tuesday: Do Men Like Your Nail Polish?

Women spend tons of time on their nails, both fingers and toes. Whether it be nail polish, manicures, length in general or cuticle care, there's a lot of work involved. Some women do it because it makes them feel good, some do it because it stops them from chewing their nails (fingers probably because most girls probably don't bite their toe nails on a regular basis), some do it for the attention it may get them. Women notice other women's nails, but unfortunately the average guy doesn't notice and honestly doesn't care. Most guys could care less what color your nails are, there a few exceptions though. Here they are.

Black nail polish will get his attention, but not in a good way. Black comes along with certain connotations so unless you're trying to attract a mysterious dude who wears trench coats, writes strange poetry about death that doesn't rhyme and may or not rip the legs off of defenseless insects as a sport, you should probably skip the black nail polish.

Some guys are actually more likely to notice your toe nail polish than your finger nail polish. Why? Because a good portion of the male population have a foot fetish. I don't think I do, but I do find myself being drawn to open toed shoes and that's something I look at when I see a pretty girl. Blame my wife, I never noticed shoes before, now I love a nice pair of heels and the only thing that makes them better are nice toenails. A French pedicure is probably the most popular among the dudes, it looks very sophisticated and classy. So if you're trying to draw men's attention, that's your best bet for the foot department. (Jaime here, I do NOT recommend a french pedicure as a look, if your toenails are long enough to have white tips, they are too long. That is all)

A French manicure crosses over onto your hands too. Again, it's very classy and clean looking. Men don't particularly like chewed down nails because it looks unsophisticated and dirty, even if the girl who's sporting them isn't. It's one of those first impression things. With a French manicure you're bound to impress him no matter what his tastes are. (Jaime again. This is a pretty hit or miss thing for me. I like short French manicures and I think they can look great if the colors are not bright white and light pink but closer to each other on the spectrum).

Men hate red. I know it's hard to believe but whether it be lingerie, lipstick or nail polish, men do not like red. The media may try to convince you otherwise but most guys don't like it for some reason. I'm one of them and I can't even explain it, all I can tell you is to stay away from red. Red dresses are fine though, shoes not so much.

But back to the nails, anything funky isn't a good idea either. By funky we're talking like really long, curled, pierced, anything that stands out. If men find the whole nail thing to be pointless, you don't want to draw their attention to it and even if they do like appreciate your nails, there's certain things that are just weird and undesirable. Curled is always a no no, always.

Which brings me to fake nails. I think you know the answer to this. Most men hate them, or at least they say they do. Between you and me, men can't usually tell. As long as they look natural, your average dude will have no clue if they're real or not. They're like fake boobs, most men won't be able to tell until they touch them or you flat out tell him, just make sure that they're not over the top and he won't know the difference. Just to be clear we're talking about nails now, not boobs, but the same rule applies.

I know I know, why have nails if you can't do anything cool with them? Well, some guys do appreciate what you do with your fingers and toes. I personally love when girls make their nails pretty, and even though like most guys I do like French mani/pedis, I also love some good artwork, no matter how simple or intricate. Pastel colors are probably my favorite, especially in the blue/purple spectrum. Any design work is great too, whether it be camouflage, writing or even a picture, I always make sure to tell a girl when she has something incredible going on with her fingernails. Sparkles are good, matte finish is awesome, I like the metallic ones, holographic ones that appear to be a different color depending on how the light hits them are cool too. For a dude who notices detail, it's hard to go wrong as long as you stay away from the big no no's we've already discussed.

But since you can't please everyone, screw them and please yourself. Wow, that came out dirtier than I intended, but you know what I mean. If you think it's pretty, someone is bound to notice and even compliment you on it. But don't hold your breath waiting for the compliment to come from a guy. So women, make sure you tell one another when you see a girl's nails that are just awesome. I'll continue to do my part but please remember that guys pretty much find it to be a waste of time but for those of us who do appreciate it, it can be very sexy and memorable so keep up all the work, some of us do notice.

PS- I had Mr. Dudesday pick a polish from my stash to feature as his favorite and he couldn't decide between Revlon Not So Blueberry (it's blueberry scented, for realz) and OPI Teal the Cows Come Home. Those are the two pics at the top of the page. Since I have both of these there will be swatches at some point for reference.

Dudesday Tuesday: Makeup For Men?

I've seen a few questionable products for men lately, generally makeup and beauty products. This is the age of the metrosexual, and I'm all for that, but how far is too far? Should men rock makeup?

First I need to say that this applies to regular men. Models, actors, musicians or anyone being photographed, makeup is not only acceptable but pretty much essential. Now let's break it down and cover the essential makeup areas. A little concealer is perfect for covering up any imperfections, especially for the camera, but is it okay for the average guy to use? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say yes. Here's my reasoning, when I was young, I had pimples and absolutely hated it. One time my sister got a sample packet of concealer in a magazine and for that day, I wasn't a pimple faced nerd. If I could have had that everyday, I would have. No one knew I was wearing makeup, they just assumed my pimples weren't as red that day and I wouldn't want to deprive anyone of that. So in my eyes at least, concealer is fine, as long as it looks natural.

Now onto the lips, chapstick is fine, although most guys would still rather use nothing or dab a little vaseline onto their chapped lips. Me on the other hand, I have my chapstick on me at all times, even though I don't use it very often. In fact one of my life goals is to actually finish a stick. Anything more than that is unacceptable. No lipglosses, lipsticks or anything to make them shimmer, sparkle or do anything that only girl's lips should do. If a chick wanted to kiss a chick's lips, she'd be on Girls Gone Wild. Give her a little masculinity there.

Any eye makeup is also unacceptable. No mascara, no eye shadow, eye liner (sorry all you emo rock guys) and certainly no sparkles. Now I can understand the emo culture wearing makeup, sort of, I don't get it but I know they're trying to look different. But wearing makeup to look pretty is something entirely different. Maybe in the future it will be normal but right now it'll just get you laughed at by both sexes. That's just how it is, so work with it. Men hate when a girl takes off her makeup and looks like a completely different person, but they have boobs and butts to make up for it, men, not so much. Don't false advertise because guys don't really have anything that can make up for it.

Onto the fingernails. As a rule, just say no. Yes men need to keep their nails a reasonable length, clean, presentable, but not painted. That goes for clear finish as well. To be honest, most men don't care when a girl paints her nails, and they usually look better their natural color anyway. However, I don't see anything wrong with men making their cuticles look good, which is a task in itself. I highly doubt most people will notice but if it's for your own pleasure, go for it.

Sadly, the way our society is, we can't comfortably be ourselves. There's also someone around every corner looking to bring us down for whatever reason they can. And no, it shouldn't be that way, but since it is, don't give people ammunition unless you're ready to come under fire. Society's standards tell us men can't wear makeup, with time I'm sure that will change. But not today, so my advice is to work with what you have. Do what looks natural, if it doesn't, be prepared to stick out like a sore thumb and learn to deal with it. In my opinion, men usually look better when they're a little rugged, not all dolled up and fancy. If something doesn't feel right, it's a good sign we shouldn't be doing it. So wear what feels right for you, but never ever ever look prettier than your woman.

How do you feel about men wearing makeup?

Dudesday Tuesday: Facial Hair Care

As a product of hormones and perhaps evolution, women have boobs, and men have the much less desirable facial hair. I suppose some women have it too but they should really do their best to change this because no matter what way you style it, it still isn't attractive. Men on the other hand can use those little stubbly hairs to their advantage and those of us smart enough to do so will utilize its full potential.

Now, there are many different things a guy can do with his facial hair and sometimes they can say something about the type of person he is, but in most cases, never judge a dude by the way he shaves. For instance, I have the infamous chin strap, the small line of hair that grows down from my sideburns and into my beard, my beard being a patch of stubble on my chin that I always keep extremely short. I also have an almost-mustache which is actually just stubble that I don't fully shave off. Some guys do a clean shave on the rest of their face to make the chin line stand out more but I never do a clean shave anymore, opting to leave the five o'clock shadow which turns into a 48 hour shadow before roughly shaving it again. There, now you sort of have a mental picture and I can explain how and why I do this, which may help you understand the personality myths behind facial hair.

Chinstraps equal douchebags. Sometimes, yes. Just like sometimes a girl with big boobs means she's a bimbo. I started growing my facial hair this way back in my junior year of high school, this was around 2000. You may think that's a long time to have the same facial hair, and it is but I've tried changing it and even getting rid of it for a whole year, the thing is, without the chinstrap to separate my face from my neck I look about 40 pounds heavier. I weigh around 200 or so, I don't want to look any bigger than that so I keep the hairline. I've always had a thick neck, suits don't fit me very well up there. When I shave off my facial hair, I look like a little kid. I have nothing against taking off a few years but not THAT many. Oddly enough, I've found that the guys who clean shave their face, leave the chin strap, and shave off the mustache as well, they do tend to be douchebags, I do not believe it has anything to do with their facial hair but maybe this look does possess some form of magical powers. I would doubt it though.

I've found that facial hair is typically used to cover something up but it isn't usually some flaw in a guy's personality, it's usually just age, bad skin, pimples, something they can easily disguise. Some girls like a clean shave, some like a little stubble, some even like a full-on beard but I doubt that one's too popular among the fairer sex. If your man has bad skin, you may want to suggest some stubble, see if it fits him. Some guys just can't grow facial hair in all areas and it looks bad. Some of it even grows in red which would look really strange, unless of course he's a viking and it goes well with his enormous sword and shield. It's really something a guy has to experiment with and once he finds the right look, he has to own it rather than let the look own him. All blondes don't look like sluts, it's about how they carry themselves, the same can be said for men's preference in facial hair.

One more thing before we go, old fashioned razors with shaving cream and water work absolutely no better than electric razors. That's a myth and some men just don't want to change their ways. Have your guy try it, they're quite cheap nowadays, I think the one I'm using now was like $15 and it has 6 different attachments and a neat little charging station for it. Without my electric razor I'd never be able to get the stubbly look I sport, I'd have to shave it all down every few days and wait a day or two for it to grow back in. The different sized attachments allow for infinite options and make it easy to adjust the length of any facial hair you want to change, the beard and sideburns for example should always always always be well maintained to avoid looking like the homeless guy hanging around outside of the grocery store being asked to move by the police because he's creeping out customers. That's not a good look to have, and it'd be embarrassing to explain to the officers that you do indeed have a home and are just waiting for your girlfriend to check out. My advice, have him ditch the shaving cream, stop cutting himself, and experiment a little with those pesky hairs that can change the way he looks with a few simple swipes of a buzzer. Just make sure he cleans up after himself because those hairs are known to travel some distance. I swear, how they end up a few feet away on the back of the toilet I will never understand.

Dudesday Tuesday: Why He Doesn't Know You Like Him

As a guy I've found that most of us pretend to have these very high opinions of ourselves and come across as rather arrogant when what we're really feeling is uncertainty and a desire to be liked. Right up until high school I was for all intents and purposes a loser and it wasn't until much later that I actually got a glimpse of what those around me, especially girls, thought about me. Those fourteen years of being a loser kind of stuck with me mentally so even today I find it impossible to believe that a girl is flirting with me or might actually like me. I'm not alone in this, many guys are absolutely clueless when it comes to women and the signals they give off to let us know we are being admired. So here's a few things you can do to let us know, even though we still probably won't fully believe it.

My wife told me that when a group of girls are giggling, seemingly about a guy, contrary to my beliefs it actually means they find him attractive, especially in high school or younger. Well we as men do not know that, probably because if we see a hot girl, the last thing we do is laugh, although sometimes we may laugh after literally drooling on ourselves hoping no one else saw what just happened. I, along with many other guys, assume that if girls are giggling, we must be extremely awkward looking or have some undesirable trait going on, even if just for the moment, such as a pimple, bad hair day or even a trail of toilet paper stuck to our foot. Even after being let in on the secret, I can't help but doubt my wife's claim, it must just be something in the male genes.

One of the big things about a girl having a little crush on us is that we simply don't believe it. Sure, most guys go around acting like every girl in the world wants them but a good number of those guys are so insecure that they won't believe it even if they're told a girl likes them. For instance, never have your friend tell a guy you're into him, odds are he won't believe it for a second, it's on you to let him know. Even if the whole world knows you like him and it's all they talk about, he'll probably think they're just rumors until those words come out of your mouth. I know that's a scary thing to do, so if you can't build up the courage to put your heart out on the line, you have to find ways to let him know you're attracted to him. Easier said than done.

You have to remember that guys are pretty much oblivious. Subtle flirting will only leave him wondering if you like him or if you're just super friendly or maybe even a notorious flirt and you act like that with everybody. So here's a few extra things you can do to help us connect the dots, although you're probably doing them already and the guy is just too clueless to notice. I think the number one most important thing to do is touch him, of course I don't mean full on groping, just gently brushing his arm or touching him for no particular reason, it'll let him know something's up. Another really important thing to do is laugh or at least smile a lot, men and I'm sure women too, want to feel like they're funny. It doesn't take much to feel appreciated but a good laugh certainly does it. Make eye contact with him and hold his gaze, it'll make him feel like he's the most important person in the world, like you're enthralled by what he's saying no matter how trivial it is. And honestly, if you're really into him, you won't need to act that interested in what he's saying, you actually will be. If he's boring you before you even get to know him, odds are you don't want to get to know him after all. Once you make him feel comfortable, important and desirable, he'll probably take the hint and ask you out but if he doesn't, don't be afraid to take the initiative. Even after all that effort you put in, he still might think you're just super friendly and a little touchy-feely. Don't worry about rejection, if he turns you down he's probably just too dumb to know what he's missing and if he already has a woman, it'll give his heart a little go boost that it might need and he'll probably always fondly remember the time that a girl asked him out. Good luck.

Dudesday Tuesday: Comic Con's Best Dressed Celebs

Jaime here. Let me just say better late than never. First it was Matt's fault for not writing this post last night then it was my fault for not getting around to posting the pictures until this afternoon. Well here it is... Dudesday Tuesday, Matt's opinion straight from the horse's mouth.

I remember a few years ago Comic Con was just a convention for 'nerds' where fans went over the top and dressed up like some of their favorite comic book heroes. Most people didn't even know what the hell a Comic Con was, now it's all over the news, companies actually hold off on major announcements regarding movies, television shows and action figure lines until Comic Con, and celebrities not only attend but they get all glammed up for it as well. So while I would love to tell you all about the new He-Man figures they're coming out with, or the relaunch of Thundercats, or WWE's Legends- oh forget it, let's get into the pretty dresses.

There were quite a few that caught my eye, some in a not so good way, but in the end I had a little trouble narrowing my picks down but here are my top five. I wanted to challenge myself a little so I'm going to attempt to put them in order, even though my wife is going to smack me for my number one pick. (He's right I hate the bimbo)

1 - WWE's Kelly Kelly, the current Diva's Champion, shown here with her title. This dress is the epitome of summer formal. The tight fitting white material looks perfect on her body and I love the simple pattern that makes this one look so elegant. Without the flashy championship belt on her shoulder she looks like she could fit in at any Hollywood awards show.

2 - Nina Dobrev, of Vampire Diaries, looks great in this intriguing black dress that any quintessential vampiress(not that she is one) would love to own. Against her pale skin it looks almost like the black fabric is wrapping her body, leaving parts of her skin exposed which is always sexy, even if it is just an illusion. I'd prefer it without the sleeves and maybe some black heels rather than the red ones but still an amazing look, and my wife will be proud I put Nina at the top of my list.

3 - Even though she didn't wear a dress, I'm giving third place to Kristin Stewart. It probably took a long time to find the perfect jeans and loose white shirt to wear to the event even if it looks like something she threw on minutes before she left, which is part of what I like about it. It's simple outfits like this that men love because she looks gorgeous without trying, and I'm not even a fan of hers, she seems like a sourpuss and definitely needs to smile more. The black bra beneath the white top usually looks kinda slutty but it's somehow almost classy here which is hard to pull off.

4 - Another wrestler, TNA's woman's champion Mickie James, is holding down the number four spot. Being in the physical condition these women have to be in, it's easy for them to look good in tight dresses that might show off too much ribcage of some of the actresses who attend these events. Mickie pulls this off perfectly and I love the design here, the colors in her dress actually match the championship belt slung over her shoulder. And wow, look at her shoes, those are hot. If I had noticed those sooner she probably would have moved up on this list, but I guess it'd seem like the ladies of wrestling were getting preferential treatment in that case anyway. I don't think Mickie could have made this outfit anymore perfect.

5 - And rounding out the top five is another of my wife's favorites, Emma Stone. I love simple black dresses, skintight is even better so this one was practically a given. Aside from her dress, I'm glad she went back to the red hair, if you ask me she should be playing Mary Jane in the upcoming Spiderman movie instead of whatever other character she was given. It's hard to see in some of the photos but to spice up the plain dress, there's a hole in the right shoulder and as I said before, unexpected exposed skin is always good, it adds a whole other dimension to the outfit. Her pale skin contrasts perfectly with the all black outfit, making her red locks stick out even more. She gets an Easy A for this one, hehe, get it? Shut up, I thought it was funny.

I'm sure there were a lot of other gorgeous dresses at the event but these are my favorites so far, and it'd take something really amazing to push one of these out of the top five. A few worth mentioning were Ashley Greene and Kate Beckinsale who would have made it had this been a top ten list. It's great to see the Comic Con gain so much mainstream exposure, I can't wait to see what they wear at next year's. If ever make it there, I'm so going as He-Man, wish me luck gaining a couple hundred pounds of muscle. Well I'm off to do some push-ups, thanks for reading.

Dudesday Tuesday: Men's Summer Fashion (or lack thereof)

For those of you who are new to DOC I'd like to introduce my husband, Matt. Matt is the resident dude and writes the Dudesday Tuesday columns for Drug of Choice. He shares his view on the latest fashion, beauty and fragrance choices for both men and women with a dash of the everyman's perspective on the side. You can expect his opinions to be honest even when we don't want to hear it and fun as well. The most important part of Dudesday is the man's perspective but it doesn't mean you have to change a thing about you to please ANYONE, we love you just the way you are.

Men expect a lot from women and tend to be very critical. Guys sure can dish it out but can they take it? Because for all the complaining coming out of men's mouths, the majority of them have no right to be making demands. If you want to help your guy out, or make fun of ones who deserve it, here's a few fashion no-no's I've seen so far this summer.

For one, men in tanktops/wifebeaters is fine, if you have the body to pull it off. This doesn't just mean no gut but there really shouldn't be body hair curling over the edges of the fabric. Chest hair, back hair, even the nasty four inch long armpit hair, it all needs to go. No one wants to see that. But it doesn't stop there, if a guy is wearing a white tanktop, one of the top priorities should be making sure it is still white. Now if you're a 50 year old chain smoking, alcoholic with a gut that has shielded your genitals from any form of light for the past fifteen years, then by all means wear the ratty old disgusting tanktops with hairs sticking through, it's a classic look, otherwise, please make sure you're able to pull this look off.

Another equally important fashion statement among clueless men is sandals. Many will argue that they have no place on men's feet but let's cut us guys a little slack, it's hot, some dudes don't want to wear sneakers. So to any guy wearing sandals, please make sure they are not flip flops, they should not 'fwwp' when you step, stick with Jesus sandals please, the ones that strap to your feet. And if you must show your toes, this requires the removal of socks. No socks under sandals. If women can't, men can't, simple as that. And remember gentlemen, you will have hair on your feet, make it go away.

Being born and raised in the inner city, shorts don't really go with the whole dressing gangsta style I've grown accustomed to. It's really hard to look cool in shorts so they created ones that hang low, too low. If the bottom of your shorts come within an inch or two of the top of your socks, you are not wearing shorts, those are capris, do not wear them, under any circumstances. On the same note, and this generally goes for older men, if the shorts come dangerously close to showing off the bottom of your underwear, you should not be seen in public with these on. Shorts should hover around the knees. Any material should be fine, or so you'd think, kids are okay wearing cotton shorts but grown men should find another fabric. On more than one occasion I have noticed guys, usually quite large ones, with visible stains on the backs of their shorts and let me tell you, the stains were NOT from sitting in the grass. So if you must wear cotton shorts, please wear underwear and I can not stress this enough, you must wipe after using the bathroom. It's a serious enough problem to warrant a blog post of its own but for now we'll just stick with wearing clean underwear beneath shorts at all times.

If you're a little grossed out right now, good, that means I'm not alone. Now on to a happier male wardrobe screw up that is quite common and one I made before my wife put me on to the truth about socks. We don't think much of them, hell, with pants on no one even sees them, but with shorts, socks tend to stick out. Why? Because men insist on wearing white socks that are jacked halfway up their legs. First of all, pull 'em on down, unless you're playing soccer. Now I just buy the ones that only come up to my ankles and I love them, they're much more comfortable and not nearly as itchy. The other problem with white socks is that they don't match your black shoes. Let's face it, most men's sneakers are black, so although your feet may be representing your racial diversity, keep black footwear with black socks and the same goes for white ones, keep the similar colors together.

Last but not least, I understand the need for men to look cool and dressing down in shorts and a light t-shirt isn't exactly the best way to look bad ass but for God's sake it's summer. This means no hoodies, especially with the hoods up, no winter hats, no coats not even rain coats (if it's raining get wet and enjoy the cool rain), no combat boots, no long sleeve shirts and no multiple layers. I have seen far too many guys dressed for winter, so ladies, do not let your man leave the house looking like that, people will laugh behind his back, I promise. Do him a favor and hook him up with some of your fashion advice because from what I've seen this summer, he probably needs it.

Dudesday Tuesday: Summer Scents

It's very hard to find a perfume that men aren't going to like, unless of course it smells like old lady perfume. I wonder if the younger generations are going to put that old lady scent out of business when they get old or if they'll conform and begin wearing it too once they start receiving the senior specials. The problem with that scent is that it's too strong and it hits you like you just ran into a wall which is always something you want to avoid if you have men's interest at heart. On that same note, if you're trying to ward off men for any reason, that's probably a good place to start.

Since it is summer, you'll probably want something to match the season whereas in winter something flowery that smells like spring is a good choice. Guys tend to like fruity scents, personally they always make me want a glass of Kool Aid, not a bad thing to be associated with. Girls that smell like food are usually intriguing as well but this time of year you should probably stick with lighter scents like cotton candy and marshmallow while avoiding chocolate and anything else on the heavier side. Although it's really hard to go wrong when you smell delectable. Soft flowery fragrances are perfect as well, no matter the season.

One thing you should keep in mind is that it's summer so don't go too heavy on any scent. When you walk by, you want to leave a light trail behind you that will make men turn back and take notice, if they didn't already due to the amount of skin you're showing off. Also, the smell of sunscreen and bug spray can be kind of sexy for some reason. It says that you were just at the beach or at least outdoors which is actually a turn on in itself. Maybe it's because guys would rather be in the air conditioning than shedding layers of clothing so it's different to them, I'm not sure, but something about those summer scents is intriguing so try to not to cover them completely. Just try to stay away from anything too strong.

Dudesday Tuesday: Chocolate Soymilk Shampoo

Most guys find a shampoo and stick with it. Not me. It's not because I'm still on the search for a good one, I love most of them actually, the thing is, I don't usually use men's shampoo. My wife has so many I just use those and pick between smelling like food, flowers, fruit or just plain clean. Men pretty much have one scent, cologne, which isn't bad at all, just kind of boring.

One of my favorite shampoos, which I'm currently using, is Sexy Hair's Chocolate Soymilk Shampoo, and it literally smells like chocolate soy milk. At least I'd assume that's what soy milk would smell like but I've never sniffed it. I would say it smells like a chocolate milkshake. Mmm, now I want a chocolate milkshake.

Even though most shampoos smell great, many of them don't keep it up for very long and sometimes the scent doesn't even stay in your hair. This one does, at least for a while. Sometimes, especially when it's still wet, I'll even catch a whiff of it when the wind blows, and my hair is short. When my wife uses it I can still smell it in her curls hours later.

I'm not necessarily condoning that your man start smelling like a chick, some women like the masculine scent of men's products, I've even known girls who use it themselves, but if he's looking for something different, have him give it a try. I have to warn you though, washing my hair does make me want chocolate. I have a sweet tooth anyway but sometimes afterward I just have to have a cookie. Let me know if it works as well on women's hair as it does mine since I don't have very much of it to contend with. Hope you love it just as much as I do.

Dudesday Tuesday on Thursday: Wardrobe's Secret Weapons

My wife was out of town Monday night and come on, I'm a guy, so after a long day at work I kinda forgot to write my post for Tuesday. I now bring you, Dudesday Tuesday on Thursday.

Since I don't have cable and the antenna on my TV no longer seems to work, the only place I get my news is Yahoo. It turns out they have lots of interesting stories, a lot of them surprisingly involving fashion and makeup. I went on a few days ago to find out what was going on in the world, which of course is never anything but depressing so I decided look at the article from Redbook about the five outfits guys secretly want to see women wear. I was glad someone researched this because in my personal experience, what the mainstream media claim guys like is not exactly accurate. I'll only go in depth into my two personal favorites with a brief mention of the other choices.

For the three I'm not going to get into, let me just say that I love simple sexy dresses, especially ones that show off your arms or something cool and unexpected like your back or parts of your stomach. While pencil skirts are nice, I can't really get on board with the whole classic heels look. Personally I like heels that stand out and draw attention whether it be because of height, color or some kind of crazy design that makes me look twice. When they say pretty undies, they mean pretty much anything besides granny panties and that should be a given. I don't think you can really go wrong with underwear, whether in a thong, lace, cotton or emblazoned with a cartoon kitty (although if it were She-Ra I'd really be turned on). Honestly, as long as they make you feel sexy, they will be.

Now onto two of my favorite outfits that for some reason always seem to catch my eye, and now thanks to Redbook I don't feel like such a weirdo. We'll start with the traditional college girl look; sweat pants and a soft shirt. It's simple, which is probably why half-asleep girls on every college campus across the country are rocking this look, but it's attractive. Obviously more form fitting sweats are going to be sexier than baggy ones that leave you swimming in them but honestly if you pair the baggy sweats with a tight top that shows off your figure, you'll still turn heads. The same is true for tight sweatpants and a baggy top, it shows off a little bit of what's to be expected underneath, especially for girls with a little much desired junk in the trunk. I can't say for other guys but what I personally love about this look is that it lets you see what a girl looks like when she's not 'on', just her everyday hanging around the house look. It somehow seems personal, like you're seeing the girl you can't get out of your head in her natural environment and she's still amazingly beautiful without trying.

The second look that really speaks to me is so complicated I'm sure most of you won't ever be able to dream of pulling it off. Are you ready for this? Jeans and a tank. When I used to play Sims back in the day, I'd always give my girl the same outfit, out of all the crazy things to choose from, it was blue jeans and a blank tanktop. When my friends saw my Sim girl, they always commented on how hot she was, it was the outfit that did it. So simple yet so incredibly sexy. Like with the sweats look, tight jeans are better and if you pair that with a tight tank, it'll have men following you and you won't even know why (well, until now). It'll look good with heels, sneakers, flip flops, hell you could even go barefoot. If it's kind of chilly, any kind of coat looks great over the outfit as well, whether it be leather, pea coat or a big old puffy winter jacket. The jeans can be shorts, capris, flared or even have rips and tears in them like you just walked away from a fight with an angry cougar, it won't take away from the appeal. The weird thing is, I don't know why. Maybe it's because it says something about the girl; low maintenance fashionista, high maintenance tomboy, comfortable with who she is but always looking to impress, down to earth with her head in the clouds. It says everything a guy needs to know about his dream girl.

Your clothes don't have to, but they can say a lot about you. Don't false advertise yourself because you'll attract exactly what you're looking for by simply being comfortable in your own skin as well as in your own clothes. It's usually the simple things that are the best so don't try too hard in areas you don't have to. Dazzle him when it's time but when you're going about your everyday business, wearing what you'd normally wear will turn more heads than you ever thought possible. Now you just know to look for it. And please, try not to cause too many car accidents, we can't help but stare.
